Young people engaging with human rights in practice
Rechten in Actie MDT (Rights in Action) brings together civil society organisations and educational institutions across the Netherlands to strengthen young people’s role in addressing human rights and societal issues.
Through different trajectories, young people engage with issues that matter to them and contribute their perspectives, ideas and experiences.
Why Rechten in Actie MDT?
Human rights are part of everyday life, shaping issues such as inclusion, equal opportunities and participation. Yet young people do not always have the space or opportunities to engage with these issues or contribute to the conversations and decisions around them.
Rechten in Actie MDT creates that space, enabling young people to learn from others, build their skills and networks, and play an active role in their communities.

How does it work?
Participants can choose from different trajectories, each with its own focus and approach. Depending on the trajectory, young people can work on policy and campaigns, conduct participatory research, take part in youth assemblies, or use visual storytelling to explore and raise awareness of human rights issues.
Rechten in Actie MDT
Rechten in Actie MDT (Rights in Action) is a collaborative MDT programme that creates opportunities for young people to engage with human rights in practice and contribute to positive change.
The programme brings together human rights organisations Human Security Collective, Justice & Peace Netherlands, Human Rights in the Picture, Perspectivity and SPIOR, and educational institutions Erasmus University College and The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
