The 7th iteration of the UN's Global Counter Terrorism Strategy has just been adopted (A/RES/75/291) by the UN General Assembly. This comes at a critical tipping point in the dramatic growth of the counter terrorism architecture at the UN. 20 members of the Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights and Counter-Terrorism have called on Member States to make sure that oversight of of UN counter terrorism is prioritized. The letter also reiterates the need to assess the current budget going into 'hard' and not human security.
